Dukes Education INSIGHT magazine - issue 5
Please find enclosed our fifth copy of Insight – a collection of thought-provoking articles from a variety of staff from across the Dukes Education Group. You will be very welcome to use any of the articles on your social media channels or on your website should you think they will be of interest to your parents. There are some interesting thoughts on teaching during lockdown, how we are approaching the environment, a new route to qualifying as a solicitor and some debate on grade inflation.
As many of you may also know, Dukes Education has also recently bought St Andrews Cambridge – a stunning college which offers GCSEs, A Levels and also a wide range of foundation courses in business, economics, law, international relations, media, humanities, science, engineering, psychology, art and design and architecture. I am enclosing their prospectus and registration form for you. For those who are looking for a one year course prior to university, St Andrews is a great option as they are very experienced at looking after international students in a boarding school environment with lots of care and support – vital for 17 year olds living away from home as younger students often get lost going into a university environment at such a young age. Do look at their excellent progression onto top universities such as Durham, King’s College, Manchester and LSE. Students here also receive mentorship from Cambridge University graduates and the benefit of some excellent teachers, many of whom have taught at Cambridge themselves. Well worth a look and I and the team will talk to you about it in more detail when we speak to you individually. We also welcome four more regional managers – Vickie, Suzy, Eden and Dea – based in China and Indonesia.
Other news is that both Cardiff Sixth Form College and Rochester Independent College will be offering two year GCSE courses from September 2022. A lot of development is taking place at both Colleges including new GCSE boarding houses and an enhanced curriculum and wider range of extra-curricular activities. If you have students wanting to take a two-year GCSE course who are looking for top quality, academic teaching please do bear both Colleges in mind.
We are still recruiting across all our Colleges for September 2021 and would be delighted to receive applications from you. All our schools are now back to face to face teaching and with nearly half the population in the UK now vaccinated there appears to be some light at the end of what has been a very difficult year for everyone. As many students have lost ground from an academic perspective, we are planning some extra support for those students joining us for the next academic year during the summer months.
We are hosting the Dukes International Conference in the next couple of weeks and many thanks to those agents who are speaking at the event. I will be organising some agent updates in the summer term and will be in touch to invite you to join us.
Thank you again for all your continued support and if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
