VERY IMPORTANT AVAILABILITY UPDATE! ESSENTIAL THAT YOU READ ALL OF THIS!

I know I emailed you recently so please forgive me for filling your inbox. However, it’s that time of year when you do need all these last-minute updates.

Bookings at Corpus Christi have flown in recently. We have received a huge number of bookings in the last couple of weeks and lots over the weekend as well. Please take note of the availability updates below.

There are 2 things to point out first: 1) if you have received a nationality update for your students, please apply that update first, before the updates below. 2) the updates below apply for every current enquiry / provisional student. Only students who you have received an invoice and confirmation letter for are included in current numbers. If you haven’t received this, then the conditions below will apply even if you have sent an booking form we haven’t replied to.

I am sorry for any inconvenience. I always try to give as much notice as possible, but we’ve had so many recently we have had to rush this update through.

YOUNG LEADERS, CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE:

1) Two-week bookings from 28th June to 12th July are absolutely fine! Lots of beds so please push all students to the first 2 weeks if possible. No problem at all.

2) Two-week bookings from 5th to 19th July are completely FULL. No space at all. Please try to move them one week earlier.

3) Two-week bookings from 12th to 26th July are available BUT they will be accommodated at Clare College. We have opened up 10 Young Leader places at Clare College. These two weeks are completely full at Corpus Christi. However, we are still getting requests so we have opened a remote centre at Clare. They will sleep and eat at Clare College, but join the Young Leaders programme at Corpus for the full programme. Please note that it is only a 10 minute walk between Clare College and Corpus Christi College! It is VERY VERY close. I completely understand if your student prefers not to do this but I have no problem offering it. A Young Leaders Counsellor will stay with them and accompany them between Clare College and Corpus Christi at all times. Let me know if you have any questions about this. I predict we will still take Young Leaders bookings at Clare for at least another 2-3 weeks before they fill as well.

4) The final two weeks have a few spaces left. We can still take a limited number of bookings for these weeks.

If you are unsure please email or call us for quick confirmation that your Young leaders booking is correct and we will respond as quickly as possible so you don’t have to wait.

WORLD UNIVERSITY PREPARATION
1)We have a limited number of places available for the first session (28th June to 12th July). Only 3-4 places maximum and these will sell out very soon.

2)The second session (12th to 26th July) is completely closed. No more places at all unfortunately.

BUCKSMORE CAMBRIDGE, CLARE COLLEGE

Because we are using Clare College for Young Leaders, the following updates apply: 1) First two weeks are fine at the moment. Please keep selling.

2) The second two weeks now have very limited availability. Literally 4 or 5 places left. It also depends on gender because all our rooms are twins. Please contact us with your student’s gender(!) for any requests for these two weeks.

As an alternative to Clare, we still have availability on Bucksmore Oxford and Bucksmore London (UNLESS you have been told otherwise for your particular nationality). No gender restrictions…

ALL other Bucksmore centres are still available (again, dependent on individual nationalities).

I hope this is all clear. I am very sorry for any inconvenience. Basically, SELL SELL SELL the first 2 weeks of Young Leaders! If anyone wants to come for the middle two weeks, they will have to attend the ‘remote’ Young Leaders centre with accommodation at Clare College. Do everything you can to push students to the first two weeks and let us know if you need any help.

Residential Assistant Required

We have a vacancy for a Residential Assistant at King's College Saint Michaels  for the academic year starting in September 2016. Please see the information about the job below and feel free to pass onto anyone that you feel may be interested in having such a wonderful experience in the UK.

Saint Michael’s College is an international secondary school specialising in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language. It is situated just outside the small town of Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire, one of the most beautiful counties in England.
 
Students at the school follow one of the following programmes: GCSE, A Level, or a University Foundation Programme. Most go on to study at university in Britain or abroad.
 
Students at the school range in age from 13 to 19. The school is co-educational. Students come from all over the world (we currently have 29 different nationalities) including Bulgaria, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Japan, Hong Kong, Guinea, Nigeria, China and Thailand.
 
About 115 - 120 students live in the boarding accommodation, in six separate houses. The school has a Head of Boarding who has overall responsibility for the running of the residence, and an Assistant Housemaster. The post of Residential Assistant is supervised by the Head of Boarding. The Residential Assistants duties are as follows (many on a rota basis): 

• Supervise evening and weekend activities as part of the Sports and Social team.
• Report any problems in the residence to the Head of Boarding, and for more serious problems the Principal.
• Inspect students’ bedrooms every morning and evening and complete appropriate paperwork.
• Supervise Prep (every evening and on Saturday morning) and complete appropriate paperwork.
• Cover in the Library at lunchtimes (and for sickness).
• Drive the college vehicle to take students to medical appointments, sporting events, trips etc
• Accompany students to doctors, dentists, hospitals, etc as required.
• Supervise the Students Common Room after prep, until lights out, on a rota basis.
• Patrol the school grounds during breaks and lunchtimes.
• Supervise students using the computer room at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends.
• Supervise Wednesday afternoon activities, as and when required.
• Help supervise the pocket money queue.
• Possibly accompany students on sporting and cultural activities in the UK and in Europe.
• Ensure the smooth running of the daily tuck shop to include stock control and money handling.
• Supervise evening meal and supper times.
• Help with student arrivals and departures when required (to include escorting students to and from airports).
• Ensure the smooth running of the residence generally.

 The positions are for an academic year (September – June) with every other weekend free (from 18.00 on Friday afternoon until 17.30 on Sunday evening). There will also be some free time during the week in agreement with the Principal. There may also be positions available on our summer school (beginning of July – mid/end of August).
 
 It is very important residential assistants arrive no later than Monday 5th September to take part in staff induction / training days. 
Residential assistants are not permitted to leave until one day after departure day and must always arrive back at the school no later than two days before arrival day. Dates for the academic year 2016-17 are:
 
10 September 2016 – 17 December 2016
07 January 2017 – 01 April 2017
22 April 2017 – 28 June 2017
 
Personal qualities we are looking for include:

• the ability to work with and supervise young people;
• the willingness to reprimand and/or report students who are not adhering to the school rules;
• the ability to relate to young people;
• the ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment;
• willingness to organise and supervise activities for residential students in the evenings and at weekends;
• willingness to drive the school minibus, if required;
• the willingness to work unsociable hours and the motivation to learn English.
• over 21 years old with a clean, full driving licence.

 Residential assistants may attend up to 10 periods of English classes per week free of charge and will also be entered for the IGCSE English or the IELTS exam. There will also be the opportunity to join students on excursions at weekends to places such as Oxford, Bath, Bristol and Stratford-upon-Avon (there are at least eight of these per year), plus trips once or twice a month to other local towns such as Hereford and Worcester.
