I hope you are well and wanted to provide you with updated information regarding our premier English as a Second Language summer program. ESL@PERK is an intensive academic experience for students seeking to improve their English while also exploring regional cultural opportunities. Students will experience all that The Perkiomen School community has to offer in addition to trips to New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. The program includes daily instruction in major academic subjects from science to American history with the primary focus on building English proficiency skills. During the summer, students are encouraged to take risks that will inspire them to become their best. Afternoon programs include tennis, swimming, and relaxing in our technology rich Carnegie Library and Robbie’s, our student center. ESL@PERK introduces students to life at boarding school and prepares them for the rigors of living and learning in the United States. Staffed by experienced professionals, ESL@PERK is a unique immersion experience for every student interested in advancing their education in preparation for American boarding schools and universities. ESL@PERK is about entering a new world of ideas, acquiring powerful skills and most important igniting a burning flame- a passion for learning that will last for life.
This program will coincide with several of our other summer programs to provide students many skill-building interactions with English speaking students. Summer ESL students benefit from an intensive English experience that extends well beyond the classroom to include meals, trips, and free time.
At the conclusion of our two summer ESL Programs, we will offer two additional programs. The College Counseling Seminar begins the post-secondary selection process for students who will matriculate into college within the next few years. During this program students will explore and begin the college application process as well as visit a number of premier college and university campuses. While on these campuses they will sit through mock interviews. For younger students, we are pleased to offer The American Experience. This program is a tour based curriculum that exposes students to key elements of American culture by studying and visiting many historical venues located in our region of the United States.
