Земля Йейтса: 17 фотографий Слайго и Литрима, которые дышат

Пустынные пейзажи Слайго и Литрима вдохновляют не только поэтов, о
чём свидетельствуют фотографии Колина Гиллена. Гиллен –
профессиональный фотограф, живущий на побережье Слайго, и он
проводит дни за съёмкой того, что он называет «удивительной,
наполненной светом игровой площадкой пейзажа под названием Земля
Йейтса». Уильям Батлер Йейтс часто посещал графства Слайго и
Литрим, и многим эти места – Бен-Балбен, Гленкар, Инишфри – знакомы
по его стихотворениям. Но незабываемые пейзажи можно описать не
только словами. Ведь, как известно, хорошая фотография стоит тысячи
слов. Днём Гиллен работает на местные и национальные СМИ, но он
также увлекается музыкой и известен в Ирландии как один из лучших
музыкальных фотографов Ирландии. Нас же привлекло его поразительное
видение Слайго и Литрима. От крошечных людей на фоне величественных
пейзажей (или гигантских волн) до простых живописных снимков
тропинок и озёр, его фотографии зовут нас в царство фей, к лесной

хотелось".

добраться пешком только во время отлива.

The significance of the Japanese Gardens is not only artistic and horticultural but also religious, philosophical and historical. St. Fiachra’s Garden was created to celebrate the Millenium. There are 4 acres of woodland and lakeside walks and hand crafted Waterford Crystal rocks and plants such as ferns and orchids. The National Stud is home to some of Ireland’s finest thoroughbred racehorses.. In Killkenny city, start with The Killkenny Castle. It stands dramatically on a strategic height that commands a crossing on the River Nore and dominates the 'High Town' of Kilkenny City. Shop at the Kilkenny Design Centre. Visit the gardens of Butler House which are well worth seeing and Kyteler's Inn, home of the witch Dame Alice Kyteler. A functioning public house. On your left is the best example of a merchant’s house left in Ireland -Rothe House. Overnight at Mount Juliet Hotel Kilkenny 5*. Day 4 – Via Cashel & Blarney Castle to Kenmare. Tour via Cashel. There, standing proud on the plains, is the great 4th century fortification of Cashel - the stone fort. This was the seat of kings and medieval bishops for 900 years and flourished until the early 17th century. Brú Ború - the palace of Ború - is a national heritage centre at the foot of the Rock of Cashel. Next stop is at Cahir Castle. It was once the stronghold of the powerful Butler family and is one of the best preserved of all standing castles in Ireland. Continue towards Tourin House. On this trip we have included a private visit with tea at Tourin House, giving you the chance to meet the three Jameson Whisky sisters, Kristin, Andrea and Tara, who are the ninth generation direct descendants of John Jameson. Continue to tour towards Cork and make a stop at Blarney Castle and visit Blarney Stone. The legend persists that anyone who kisses the famous stone high up on the castle parapets will be endowed with the "gift of the gab". Aside fr om the magic stone, the castle, added in 1446 by Cormac MacCarthy to an earlier tower, is well worth a visit. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney, making it a world landmark and one of Ireland's greatest treasures. The world famous Blarney Stone is situated high up in the battlements of the castle. Follow one of the several long, stone spiral staircases up to the top and enjoy the spectacular views of the lush green Irish countryside, Blarney House and The Village of Blarney. Continue to Kenmare to check in to the hotel. Overnight at The Park Hotel Kenmare 5*. Day 5 – Ring of Kerry & Killarney Park The Ring of Kerry is the scenic highlight of Ireland, with over 100 miles of stunning seaside with the mountains always beside you. Kerry is a land of contrasts - velvet green golf courses, empty golden beaches, rugged cliffs, exotic gardens, wild scenery, unchanged since the ice age, hidden communes of artists and writers, stone age monuments, and fish filled rivers and lakes. When going around the Ring of Kerry be sure to visit St Flanan’s Bay where the wild fuchsia carpets the countryside and the Skellig Chocolate Company for the best chocolate in the world. Killarney lies on the edge of the astoundingly beautiful Killarney National Park with its three magnificent lakes and the spectacular MacGillycuddy Reeks mountain range. The park is also home to Muckross House and Gardens. The town itself is quite small but full of charm as you will soon see as you walk down the brick footpaths and pass curious old-style shop fronts. Traditional Irish music can also be heard in many of the local pubs. Overnight at The Park Hotel Kenmare 5*. Day 6 – Listowel, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren Fr om Kenmare to Ashford Castle is approximately 4 hours driving time, it will be an intense touring day as there would be few stops in between. First to Listowel (Lios Tuathail, "Tuathal's fort", in Irish) is one of Ireland's 26 Heritage towns and is described as the Literary Capital of Ireland. It has produced more writers than any other area in Ireland and a museum celebrates the life and work of eight of them. They include John B Keane, Bryan MacMahon, Brendan Kennelly, George Fitzmaurice and Maurice Walsh. Beside the museum is Listowel Castle. Visit the Cliffs of Moher, a sheer precipice 8km long & rising to a height of 203m, one of the most impressive stretches of the coast in the West of Ireland. Then north across the Burren, an eerie, peculiar 193-square mile bare lunar like landscape of a limestone plateau dotted with Stone Age forts & megalithic tombs. In the narrow crevices that criss-cross this pavement flourish orchids, gentians & other rare flora. Hidden sites in the Burren include Cahercommaun Stone fort, The Burren Perfumery, Poulnabrone Dolmen & Ailwee Cave. Continue towards Ashford Castle. Overnight at Ashford Castle 5*. Day 7 – Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Cong
Visit Kylemore Abbey, an enchanting fairy-tale castle in the neo-Gothic style that stands dramatically at the foot of a barren mountain in a remote and beautiful part of Connemara – its numerous battlemented and machicolated towers and turrets reflected in the waters of the lake below. For years this amazing house, now a convent, has been the most admired and photographed building in the West of Ireland. Continue Towards Clifden and later to the Connemara National Park. Connemara is an area beloved by artists & poets who find magical inspiration in its wide open bogs & its towering cloud capped mountains. Cottages nestle into hillsides wh ere wild looking sheep with thick fleeces & great curling horns freely graze. The rugged coastline is punctuated with little fishing villages, wh ere you will see the traditional canvas built currachs & black hulled Galway Hookers moored beside the lobster pot strewn piers. Visit the Duc de Stacpoole at the Roundstone Art Gallery. Overnight at Ashford Castle 5*. Day 8 – Galway, Limerick, Adare
Explore Galway still known today as the City of the Tribes, the name referring to 14 important Anglo-Norman merchant families who lived there and dominated the life and trade of the city during the middle ages. Eyre Square is the centre of Galway and the pivot around which the city moves. Lynch’s Castle was once home to an important family, one of the tribes, who supplied the city with more than 80 mayors between the 15th and 17th centuries. Quay St has many small craft shops and restaurants and also two famous pubs, The Quay’s which is famed for its traditional music sessions and Tigh Neachtain, wh ere the old interior with its little ’snugs’ or booths is a real beauty. Spanish Arch was once an old and run down area, but is now a modernised and trendy part of town. Continue towards Limerick to visit The Hunt Museum. The Hunt Museum houses the collection of John and Gertrude Hunt. It is an internationally important collection of over 2000 original works of fine and decorative art and antiquity dating from the Mesolithic to the 20th century. It is particularly known for its medieval religious carvings, ivory and crucifix figures. Fine art includes works by da Vinci, Renoir, Picasso and Gauguin. Later continue touring towards Adare Village, renowned as Ireland's prettiest village. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven for over three centuries. Thatched cottages line its broad street, punctuated with beautiful stone buildings and picturesque ruins. Overnight at Dromoland Castle 5*. Day 9: Depart Shannon
After breakfast, transfer to Shannon airport for your flight home. From Dromoland Castle to Shannon Airport would be a 30min drive.
