I am contacting you to introduce you to The Royal School Dungannon (or RSD). We are located in Northern Ireland and boarders have always attended the school. Given that the school was founded in 1614 and is over 400 years old that is a great many boarders who have enjoyed their education at RSD over the years!
RSD may be an old school with lots of tradition but our campus and facilities are very modern. This includes our Boarding department where we have lots of new facilities and refurbished dorms. In total we have 54 boarders in a school population of around 650 pupils. There is boarding accommodation for 30 boys and 24 girls in two boarding houses. The school and boarding are big enough to have lots of activity and yet small enough for pupils to be known and cared for as individuals.
RSD’s curriculum offer is based around GCSE and A Level and the school has a strong academic profile over many years. We also have a big commitment to extra-curricular activity and many links to local community organisations, both of which pupils support in large numbers. Around 95% of RSD pupils go on to university including many of the top Russell Group universities and Oxbridge.
Our boarders are amongst our top achievers at both GCSE and A Level and they are heavily involved in school life. Most of our boarders come from overseas and they quickly make friends with other boarders and also with local day pupils who often invite them for weekend visits. We have been working to diversify our boarding profile and in recent years we have had boarders from Hong Kong, Germany, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Kenya and Zimbabwe as well as boarders from the UK and Ireland.
I hope that you will take some time to find out more about RSD and the opportunities we offer to boarders, including our competitive and attractive fees. Please visit our website at http://www.royaldungannon.com/ and click on the #RSD menu for lots of links to RSD Twitter and Facebook sites. We think you will like what you see and we hope that we can work together in the near future.
