Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the first newsletter for this second half of term. I hope you enjoyed the two week break and that there was some quality time spent with your children. I, of course, was away from School last week attending various pupil fairs in China and so for me this second week is my first week back.
We have had a record number of pupils sit our Entrance Assessments for Year 7 entry. I am aware that, whilst our marketing and admissions processes are both very efficient, it is word of mouth that is the greatest advocate for Bethany so thank you very much for continuing to spread the good word.
I was privileged to attend the Inter House Public Speaking Competition on Tuesday. All of the contributors spoke wonderfully well and I was glad that I wasn’t one of the judges because picking winners was extremely difficult. It was a most entertaining and enjoyable evening.
I am grateful for the Sixth Form for organising a conservation theme day on Wednesday. It is clear that this is an issue that is close to the hearts of many of our pupils.
We had our annual Remembrance Service this morning in Marden Church and, once again, it was excellently delivered and sensitively observed by all of our pupils. It is only right that we take time out from our busy schedules to acknowledge our past and all of the pupils were wonderfully respectful during the emotional hour long service.
There is a Bethany Parent Teacher Prayer Support Meeting in the Chaplaincy on Tuesday, 15th November. In addition, the following evening sees our Sixth Form Drama pupils perform to parents and GCSE pupils at 7.00 p.m. in the Drama Studio.
Our Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on Friday, 18th November at 6.00 p.m. This will take place in our recently opened Sixth Form Centre. I hope as many Year 11 pupils and parents as possible will be able to attend.
One of our former pupils is a lead actor in the soap opera, EastEnders and I am delighted that Aaron Sidwell who plays Steven Beale in it has agreed to come and be interviewed by me on Wednesday, 23rd November. As parents you are more than welcome to attend and if you wish to come then please inform the school office accordingly so that we can ensure that you are appropriately accommodated. If there are any questions that you would like me to ask on your behalf, please let me know. This will take place in the Function Suite at 7.00 p.m.
The following night sees the eagerly awaited Bethany’s Got Talent Show. It is like Britain’s Got Talent - but infinitely better! Tickets for this are on sale via the School Office and cost £4 each.
