Соединенное Королевство высоко оценивает усилия Папуа-Новой Гвинеи по борьбе с коррупцией, в частности создание Независимой комиссии по борьбе с коррупцией и принятие Закона о разоблачителях. Соединенное Королевство также приветствует повышенное внимание Папуа-Новой Гвинеи к борьбе с гендерным насилием, в том числе в рамках работы Специального парламентского комитета. Борьба с насилием станет важным элементом, наряду со свободой собраний и выражения мнений, в проведении мирных и заслуживающих доверия национальных выборов в июне 2022 года.
Мы рекомендуем Папуа-Новой Гвинее:
Ратифицировать и осуществлять Протокол о предупреждении и пресечении торговли людьми, особенно женщинами и детьми, и наказании за нее, дополняющий Конвенцию Организации Объединенных Наций против транснациональной организованной преступности 2000 года;
Увеличить финансирование и ресурсы для предотвращения гендерного насилия и реагирования на него, включая обучение сотрудников полиции по выявлению и расследованию случаев;
Разрабатывать политику и методы для расширения участия женщин и девочек в общественной и политической жизни, а также в процессах принятия решений по затрагивающим их вопросам.
