As I know you are aware, in January 2019 the UK Government introduced a 30 day limit on course extensions for those here on study visit visas, whatever the actual visa end date.
English UK have been lobbying hard on this issue, and have the following good news. While the original rule has not been changed, there is a certain amount of flexibility which means that students can extend their course if that possibility is part of their original booking. English UK say:
While best practice is for students wishing to take successive courses to have offer letters to cover all course dates that they can use in support of their visa application/present at the border if non-visa nationals, students do not necessarily need an offer letter or letters with fixed dates if on application or entry they signal their intention to study for a longer period.
We therefore recommend asking students on application if they may wish to extend their course beyond their initial enrolment, and if so this can be added to the offer letter – e.g. ‘the student has enrolled for the above dates, however they have indicated to us that if they so wish they will renew their course for a further X weeks’. The student would then be free to renew and to study in one or more schools up to their visa expiry date – or go home after 30 days if they decide not to renew (or study elsewhere).
Therefore if any of your clients may wish to extend their course, if you give us the number of weeks, we will include this on the offer letter and they can then extend with no problems up until their visa end date.
A small piece of good news!
With best wishes,
